Cause month: ‘Change-Making Education’

Throughout November and December 2015, MakeSense Berlin directed their attention to disruptive and innovative educational initiatives that create powerful and real-world learning experiences in and outside classrooms. The aim of the campaign was to identify, promote and celebrate innovative and impactful educational initiatives all over Berlin that push change in the traditional school system, particularly those focused on improving students’ learning experience, to help scale their practices.

By organising problem-solving workshops, film screenings, concerts and city tours they wanted to bring together students, teachers, experts, initiatives and education innovators out there in order to create new opportunities for them to connect, exchange and experiment.

The findings are presented here so that information can be viewed at any time. We will add information as we go along. All identified initiatives can also be found in the directory.

CUiB (meaning “nest”) is an innovative board game that aims to enlighten both teachers and kids about global issues, such as migration, climate change, desertification and pollution. While using the concept of birds’ migration, kids are invited to reflect on the usualness of people themselves migrating, while also cultivating a sense of respect for nature.

How you can support:

Challenge: “How can we produce more games with no funding left to serve the high demand?”

Background: CUiB managed to produce a limited amount of games (with EU funds) that they have already distributed to schools. The feedback was extremely positive and now they are faced with a big demand. Our challenge is to find creative ways for CUiB to serve this demand.
